Privacy Policy
Your gift ideas can be personal. Here is what we collect, why we need it, and the choices you have.

Who looks after your information
Richmal Maybank operates The Art of Gifting and is responsible for the personal information collected through this site. For privacy questions or requests, email hello@theartofgifting.co.uk.
What we collect and why
- Preview requests: your email address and request record, so we can deliver the preview and manage delivery. This is separate from permission to send marketing.
- Optional marketing permission: whether you opted in, with the wording and time of your permission. We use consent for marketing; leaving the box unticked does not affect your preview.
- Purchases: buyer email, payment references, amount, payment and refund status, and delivery records, to fulfil your order, verify planner access and meet accounting obligations.
- Accounts and your planner: account email, display name, and the recipient details and gift notes you choose to save, to provide your paid planner. Other visitors cannot read your private planner.
- Stories and feedback: your message and any name or email you choose to provide, to review it and respond. These are not mailing-list sign-ups. Instagram and e-book publication permissions are recorded separately; stories are not published automatically.
- Technical information: requests, error information and service logs needed to operate the site, troubleshoot failures and protect it from misuse.
We rely on fulfilling your request or contract for preview delivery, purchases and the planner; consent for marketing and optional story publication; legal obligations for required financial records; and legitimate interests for responding to feedback, site security and troubleshooting.
The Gift Finder and other people's details
Your answers are sent to an AI service to generate suggestions. We do not intentionally save completed Finder questionnaires as recipient records unless you choose to save information in your planner. Technical processing and service logs may still contain information from a request, so please do not enter confidential or sensitive information.
You can leave optional questions unanswered. Use a first name or nickname, and broad clues rather than an address or full date of birth. Only share information about others that you have a proper reason to use. AI suggestions are inspiration, not verified product listings.
Services that help us run the site
Lovable Cloud provides hosting, account services, private storage and app email delivery. AI processing helps generate Finder ideas. Stripe processes checkout and payments; we store payment references, not your full card number. Google or another sign-in provider processes sign-in if you choose it.
These services may process information outside the UK. Applicable data-protection safeguards and the providers' terms govern that processing. You can read Stripe's privacy information and Google's privacy information. Retailer and Instagram links take you to separate sites with their own privacy policies. We do not sell your personal information.
Cookies and browser storage
Account sign-in needs browser storage or cookies to keep your session. Saved Finder ideas stay in your browser until you remove them or clear that browser's data; they do not automatically appear on another device. Temporary browser storage also supports checkout and passing planner clues to the Finder.
The access button runs in your browser. Its provider states it does not use tracking cookies. See the access statement for more details. Payment and sign-in services may use their own necessary storage.
How long information is kept
Information is kept only for as long as needed for its purpose, including delivery, account services, handling requests, security and any applicable legal record-keeping obligations. Different records have different needs; deleting a planner account does not delete financial records that must be retained.
You can export your account data and delete your account from account settings. Deletion removes the planner and account and unlinks retained orders. For preview requests, consent records, stories or feedback, contact us to request removal or withdraw permission.
Your choices and rights
Depending on the circumstances, you can ask to access, correct, erase or restrict your information, object to processing based on legitimate interests, or request a portable copy. You can withdraw consent at any time without affecting earlier lawful use. We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling a request.
Email hello@theartofgifting.co.uk to exercise these rights or stop marketing. We normally respond within one month, with any permitted extension explained. Withdrawing story permission stops future uses where possible; copies of an e-book already downloaded cannot be recalled.
If you are unhappy with how your information is handled, you can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office.
